SJCOG Updates

Hello Stockton CSC,

During our June CSC Meeting, San Joaquin Council of Governments (SJCOG) received follow-up questions about the Stockton Mobility Collective project. Please see below for responses to those questions. If you have any additional questions, please reach out to Christine Corrales at corrales@sjcog.org.

  1. Questions about bikeshare (Yosemite village/bike racks removed)
    1. Bike Stockton is temporarily limiting operations to assess the first few months of piloting bikeshare in Stockton. Bikes will continue to be available at hubs located at the University of the Pacific and the Downtown Transit Center. During this time, the Bike Stockton team will focus on planning adjustments to the program. As we go through this process, we will be inviting feedback from Bike Stockton members on how to improve the network and securing of the bikes to promote a sustainable shared bike program in Stockton.
  2. How the project area map was created
    1. The Stockton Mobility Collective project area was defined with input from community stakeholders in the summer of 2020 and drawn to intentionally overlap with segments of AB 617 and Stockton’s Transformative Climate Communities boundaries. Stakeholders and partners saw the importance of layering investments on top of others already working to improve the city. Because the Stockton Mobility Collective is a mobility equity project, it was also important to ensure the project area enable a network of shared mobility stations. The vision behind the project was to pilot new mobility services that could serve South Stockton neighborhoods, often described by stakeholders as a food and services desert. As a result, the Stockton Mobility Collective project area extends north and south along major corridors, like I-5, Pacific Ave, El Dorado St, and West Lane so that shared mobility stations can complement existing transit and be strategically located at or near multifamily residential, retail/commercial centers, healthcare facilities, and other centers of community activity. The project area map is available at www.sjcog.org/smc.

Thank you!
