Hello Arvin/Lamont CSC, 

Thanks to all who made our May CSC Meeting! We did not get a chance to review action items, so please review the captured action items (https://community.valleyair.org/media/co5loo0f/action-item-tracker_arvinlamont.pdf) from the meeting and let us now if there are any edits or clarification needed. Please see below for standing updates and we’ll see you at our next Arvin/Lamont Agenda-Setting meeting on June 5th. 

District

  • Upcoming June Subcommittee Meetings:
    • The next Arvin/Lamont Outreach Subcommittee will be held on Tuesday, June 10, from 4:00-5:00 p.m.
    • The next Arvin/Lamont Pesticide Subcommittee will be held on Tuesday, June 24, from 4:00-5:30 p.m.

California Air Resources Board (CARB)

  • On May 22, CARB Chair, Liane Randolph joined Governor Newsom, Attorney  General Rob Bonta, CalEPA Secretary Yana Garcia, and CARB board member Dr. John Balmes on the roof of the CalEPA building to respond to the U.S. Senate’s vote to illegally repeal key aspects of the state’s clean cars and trucks program. They announced that they will fight the U.S. Senate’s illegal vote in court and Chair Randolph emphasized that despite this setback, CARB remains steadfast in its mission and mandate.

State Water Board staff who are working on SB 1137 and have participated in answering questions at workshops include: Janice Zinky (Janice.Zinky@waterboards.ca.gov), Bill Patzelt (Bill.Patzelt@waterboards.ca.gov), and Christopher Hand (Christopher.Hand@waterboards.ca.gov).

¡Gracias a todos los que participaron en nuestra reunión del Comité de mayo! Junta de Recursos del Aire de California (CARB, por sus siglas en inglés)

  • El 22 de mayo, la presidenta de CARB, Liane Randolph, se unió al gobernador Newsom, al fiscal general Rob Bonta, a la secretaria de CalEPA, Yana García, y al miembro de la junta de CARB, el Dr. John Balmes, en la azotea del edificio de CalEPA para responder a la votación del Senado de EE.UU. para derogar ilegalmente aspectos clave del programa estatal de vehículos y camiones limpios. Anunciaron que lucharán contra el voto ilegal del Senado de EE.UU. en los tribunales y el presidente Randolph hizo hincapié en que, a pesar de este revés, CARB se mantiene firme en su misión y mandato.
