Delta Stewardship Council

As you might recall the Delta Stewardship Council came to a Stockton CSC meeting and HABs subcommittee to present the Council’s Tribal and Environmental Justice issue paper and the Delta Adapts climate adaptation work. Please see the message below on updates that were shared from the Council.

For the Delta Adapts climate change Adaptation Plan, the public review draft of the adaptation plan was just released for a 60-day public comment period and 90-day tribal consultation period. Please find below a link to the public review draft of the Adaptation Plan, information on how to submit public comments on the Draft Plan (due by January 17, 2025), and additional information about this effort. For a high-level summary of the adaptation strategies included in the draft Adaptation Plan, see this information sheet; for a more detailed summary, see the Executive Summary within the Draft Plan document. During the 60-day public comment period, staff will continue community outreach on the draft by continuing to present and table at community meetings and events throughout the Delta. If you know of an event where staff may be able to table and/or present to talk to community members about this work, please reach out to climatechange@deltacouncil.ca.gov

Ahead of that, we’d like to invite you and your networks to join an informal, hybrid drop-in workshop to ask questions or provide comments on the draft (as an alternative or in addition to submitting written comments).

This drop-in event is scheduled for:

When: Monday, January 6th from 4-6 PM (feel free to join anytime between 4-6pm)

How to participate: In-person at 715 P Street, Sacramento, CA room #221C or virtually on Zoom

For planning purposes, we encourage all attendees (in-person and virtual) to register for the event and answer the optional questions on Zoom at this link.

During the 60-day public comment period, Council staff have been busy continuing to present and table at community meetings and events throughout the Delta to talk to community members about this work. If your organization is interested in a presentation by Council staff and/or know of an event where staff may be able to present or table about this work, please reply to this email or reach out to climatechange@deltacouncil.ca.gov
