Engaging the public throughout the development and implementation of AB 617 will be paramount. The District plans to host a series of workshops, public meetings, and community forums to educate the public, yet more importantly, to solicit suggestions and feedback on a wide variety of issues, including allocation of funds, identifying communities for potential enhanced monitoring and action plan development.

AB 617 and the recent Cap and Trade extension legislation is expected to bring significant additional funds to the Valley to help reduce emissions and improve public health in disadvantaged communities. Learn about qualifying projects, impacted communities and investment priorities.

During our February CSC meeting, we ran short on time presenting the final two slides of the Air Monitoring update presentation. Hello CSC members. Are there locations in your community where heavy-duty diesel truck traffic that is a concern of yours? The California Air Resources Board (CARB) Enforcement staff is looking for help identifying locations within the Arvin/Lamont community boundary where staff can perform roadside inspections of heavy-duty diesel trucks and deploy the Portable Emission Acquisition Systems. Please email or call Eric Bissinger with locations that you know have a large volume of trucks coming and going. Eric can be reached at 1-(279)-208-7476 or Eric.Bissinger@arb.ca.gov. Also, CARB Enforcement wants to continue to encourage you to report any complaints such as smoking trucks, idling diesel vehicles, and non-compliant off-road equipment through our recently updated Environmental Complaint web portal.
