Hello Stockton CSC,
Due to our impacted June meeting agenda, please see below for subcommittee and agency standing updates.
Subcommittee Updates
Outreach Subcommittee: The Outreach Subcommittee has been actively participating at different in-person community events promoting AB 617 and the Burn Cleaner Program. Additionally, the group has been proactively brainstorming on strategies to promote the Mini Grant Program and engage with community-based organizations with the goal of identifying strategic outreach partnership opportunities. At the next meeting, the Subcommittee will continue the discussion on leveraging the Mini Grant Program and discuss framework for the CERP measure mapping exercise that the entire CSC will review at a future general meeting.
The next Outreach Subcommittee meeting will be held on Thursday, June 16 at 2:00pm.
Trees Subcommittee: During May’s meeting, the Trees Subcommittee reviewed and provided feedback on the draft Urban Greening Request for Proposal (RFP), a document to solicit an entity to implement the urban greening program. At the next meeting, the subcommittee will continue reviewing this draft RFP.
The next Trees Subcommittee meeting is Tuesday, June 21 at 4:00 pm.
Indoor Air and Weatherization Subcommittee: The Indoor Subcommittee brainstormed some of the initial ideas for eligibility for receiving indoor air filters. Elaine, JazMarie and Cynthia have collected some criteria from the San Diego project and the Contra Costa County project. Next steps are to turn the brainstorm into a document to share with the subcommittee and finalize at the July subcommittee meeting. Valley Air staff and CARB have committed to start working on the project plan with an eye towards approval from CARB.
The next Indoor Air Subcommittee meeting is Tuesday, July 26 at 4:00 pm.
Harmful Algal Blooms Subcommittee: The HABs Subcommittee heard updates on Restore the Delta’s sampling efforts and University of North Carolina’s (UNC) upcoming air monitoring efforts in Stockton. Spencer and State Water Board staff walked through a HABs mapping tool: State Water Resource Control Board’s HABs incident report map to see where harmful algal blooms have been voluntarily reported.
The next subcommittee meeting is Tuesday, June 28 at 1:00 pm.
Heavy-Duty Trucks Subcommittee: During the last HD Trucks Subcommittee, the District provided information on the recent enhancements to the District’s heavy-duty truck replacement program, including outlining program guidelines. The next steps are to bring partners, such as WattEV and California Energy Commission (CEC) to future meetings to understand needs and assess opportunities for partnerships.
The next subcommittee meeting is Tuesday, August 2 at 4:00 pm.
Regulatory and Enforcement Subcommittee: During the last Regulatory and Enforcement Subcommittee, CSC members provided feedback on overall goals and purpose of the subcommittee as well as several topics for future discussion (see Meeting Notes here).
The next subcommittee meeting is being scheduled with co-leads.
EV Mechanic Training Subcommittee: During April’s CSC meeting, the subcommittee learned directly from local dealerships and the New Car Dealers Association on the types of skills/job training they are looking for during the mechanic hiring process and the hiring market they anticipate in the coming years as EV demand grows.
The next subcommittee meeting is being scheduled with co-leads.
