  • Stockton AB 617 Lawnmower Trade-in + Tune-In Tune-Up Event (6/28):

On Saturday, June 28, Valley CAN hosted a combined Lawnmower Trade-in + Tune-In Tune-Up Event at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds. At the event, 400 Stockton residents exchanged their old, polluting gas-powered lawnmowers for a new, free zero-emission, electric Stihl lawn mower. Additionally, 450 residents took part in the Tune-In Tune-Up smog repair event, where they received a free emissions test and, if needed, a repair voucher worth up to $850 for emissions-related repairs. As part of the event, 141 residents also signed up to receive a free residential air purifier through the AB 617 Clean Air Rooms program. Huge thanks to the Stockton CSC for making this event possible!

California Air Resources Board (CARB)

Hello from the Office of Community Air Protection in CARB! We have a few things coming up this month we think will be of interest to you, but we also wanted to mention our recent revitalization of the AB 617 Consultation Group, approved by our Board at the end of June. We’ve got details just below:

  • AB 617 Consultation Group officially revitalized at the CARB public hearing on June 26:
    • The AB 617 Consultation Group was instrumental in the early stages of AB 617 implementation, its efforts resulting in both the original Community Air Protection Program Blueprint in September 2018 as well as The People’s Blueprint in September 2021, which ultimately formed the basis for the Blueprint 2.0 in October 2023.
    • Staff unveiled their efforts to revitalize the AB 617 Consultation Group to the Board at its June 26 public hearing, complete with a new draft charter and a list of new members including air pollution control officers across local air districts, environmental justice advocates, members of community steering committees and consistently nominated communities, industry and business, and local and tribal governments.
    • Please see our AB 617 Consultation Group webpage for more information, including the new draft charter and members list!
