[CSC Feedback Needed] Stockton CSC: September Standing Updates

Hello Stockton CSC,

Thanks to all who made our September CSC Meeting! Please see below for standing updates and we’ll see you Wednesday, October 4th for our next CSC meeting.

District

November CSC Meeting [CSC Feedback Needed!] –

During the agenda-setting meeting, we discussed a couple of concepts for the November CSC meeting, which will be the final CSC meeting of the year. As not everyone is able to attend the meeting, we are soliciting your feedback on agenda topic and whether this meeting will be in-person or virtual. Please share your preference from the options in this survey by EOD Wednesday, September 27th: https://forms.gle/sYFwkWYABhX1yyYt6.

Annual Report

The District is working on the draft annual report, to summarize CERP implementation progress in the community. It will be released to the CSC in the next coming weeks for review and we will plan to have an agenda item in October’s CSC meeting to review and receive feedback. In November, the annual report will be presented to the District Governing Board.

Truck Project Plan

Thank you all for your engagement with this agenda item and support for submitting a project plan to CARB. As our co-host Margo mentioned, please reach out to the District if you have any additional questions or feedback! We are always open to hearing from you. The District will continue to provide updates on the Heavy-Duty Truck measure and project plan, as they become available.

Subcommittees

Indoor Air and Weatherization Subcommittee (August)  –

During the August meeting, the Indoor Air and Weatherization Subcommittee discussed updates on the Clean Air Rooms program, both valley-wide and in AB 617 Stockton community. The group also identified outreach opportunities and is in the works for coordinating air purifier distributions, at upcoming Stockton outreach events. The next meeting is scheduled Tuesday, October 24 at 4 pm.

Outreach Subcommittee (August)

During the August Outreach Subcommittee meeting, the Air District provided a recap of events attended and asked for future events to attend. The committee would also like to pursue enhanced outreach efforts by focusing on residents living in close proximity to Louis Park. The group suggested connecting with Stockton Unified School District’s Parent Teacher Association, to help distribute information to parents. The next meeting is scheduled for Friday, October 13 at 2 pm.

Algal Blooms –

Spencer Fern, from Restore the Delta, shared the following update in the chat at the last CSC meeting.

“I wanted to update everyone who had been following harmful algal blooms in the AB617 meetings last year that the work done with University of North Carolina on aerosolized toxins is now published. First article to demonstrate a link between cyanotoxins and air quality. Link here: https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acsearthspacechem.3c00177?ref=pdf

CARB

The following message is a summary of what Kyle Goff shared in the chat during the last CSC meeting. –

It is likely there will be a re-published new public draft of the BP2.0 for comments, leading up to CARB October Board hearing (previously in September, but pushed back a month). You'll be able to submit public comments on the new final draft, that will be posted at the end of September in advance of the Board hearing. You can also submit comments to Kyle Goff, Kyle.Goff@arb.ca.gov , at any time leading up to that as well. Please find attached to this email a short presentation put together by Kyle, about the Community Air Protection Blueprint 2.0.

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please reach out to the District at AB617@valleyair.org or call 559-230-6000 and ask to speak to someone with the AB 617 program. To see communications from the District to the CSC, visit the Communications with Members page.
