Good morning CSC members,
While recently conducting mobile air monitoring in the Shafter community, an individual vandalized the air monitoring van and endangered the safety of the District team performing the monitoring. We are working closely with the Kern County Sheriff’s Department as they investigate the matter. The District is currently working on additional measures to increase the safety of our team and air monitoring equipment and will resume using the air monitoring van as soon as possible. In the meanwhile, you can continue to get real-time air monitoring data from the Valley’s community air monitoring networks (including Shafter) on the AB 617 Community Air Monitoring webpage https://community.valleyair.org/community-air-monitoring.
Thank you for your understanding of the situation.
